  • This Week At QED: February 16th - February 22nd

Well, this weather is awful. But, instead of shriveling up and hibernating on your couch, come join us to beat the winter blues!

Astoria Native Ted Alexandro returns for his routine check-up at QED - this time with artist Esteban del Valle, Joyelle Nicole Johnson, and Todd Barry (who is rumored to be the hottest comedian on the planet).

Tuesday, February 17th: 500 Days of Summer Live Read - 8pm                                 Comedian Brandon Collins kicks off his script-reading series with one of the smartest romantic comedies in recent history,  “500 Days of Summer.” This month’s cast includes: Charles McBee ("America's Got Talent"), Molly Densmore (Nickelodeon), Cara Kilduff (Queens Public TV) and Nick Naney ("Stand-Up NY").

They’re funny, they’re happy, and they’re here to serve you - Liz Magee and Ariel Elias host a jam-packed night all for you. The line-up includes: Sarah Tollemache (AXS TV), Drew Dowdey (Funny or Die), Chris Calogero (Rooftop Comedy), Peggy O'Leary (Hard Lonely & Vicious), Mike Brown (Big Pony Show) and Sam Morril (Conan).

Thursday, February 19th: BanterGirl Presents “Limited Time Offer”- 9pm                                     The smarty-pants women behind BanterGirl kick off their clever series this Thursday.  Comedians (who shall remain nameless until showtime) attempt to adapt their material to the theme of the month - it might be a mock dinner party, an obstacle course, or a game show. Whatever the theme, it definitely won’t disappoint.

Friday, February 20th: Musical Improv with Louie Pearlman - 7pm                                               QED favorite Louie Pearlman hosts a night of quick-witted musical improv, featuring the troublemakers known as Naive Melodies. Every song, lyric, and joke will be improvised, so WHO KNOWS what you’re going to get.

Saturday, February 21st: Don’t Feed the Musicians                                    The comedy/musical mix continues on Saturday night with host, musician, and all-around ball of talent Rob Paravonian. This month’s installation features JR Havlan (The Daily Show) Erin and Her Cello (Joe’s Pub, BAMCafe, and Rockwood Music Hall), and Liam McEneaney (Tell Your Friends! The Concert Film!, host of Tell Your Friends! podcast).

Sunday, February 22nd: Oscar Watch Party - 6:00pm

It’s hollywood’s most glamorous night, and we want to celebrate! Kambri Crews and Christian Finnegan host their annual viewing party, complete with $5 beer and wine specials, trivia, and prize drawings. We’ll watch everything from the red carpet to the musical speech cut offs - but promise not to talk through any of the action. Tickets are free, but an RSVP/reservation is necessary to ensure seating.
