  • This Week at QED: January 19th - 25th

We've got a smorgasbord of events and classes coming up this week, so we hope you're hungry!

Monday, January 19th: The Ted Alexandro Show, 8pm
Astoria native Ted Alexandro stops by to headline the aptly named "Ted Alexandro Show" at 8pm. The set list includes comedians Sharron Paul and Noah Gardenswartz and activist/filmmaker Brendan Fay.

    Tuesday, January 20th: Drink n Draw, 9pm
Our first Drink N Draw starts at 9pm, so sharpen your pencils and saddle up with a draft of Astoria’s own Singlecut or a bottle of Ommegang, Shiner Bock, or any of our other tasty craft beers.

    Wednesday, January 21st: Kids Sing-A-Long, 10:30am
Louie Pearlman will lead the youngest (and cutest) singers in Astoria in a Sing-A-Long starting at 10:30am. It's a perfect way to spend the morning with your little one!

Wednesday, January 21st: The Soundtrack Series
The critically acclaimed podcast "The Soundtrack Series" brings Noah Tarnow, Rebecca Virgil, Mariah MacCarthy, and Jeffrey Joseph to the stage. Here, they'll tell stories about how a specific song impacted his or her life. Ranging from the heartfelt to the hysterical, "The Soundtrack Series" is not to be missed.

    Thursday, January 22nd: Comic Book/Graphic Novels, 5pm
Industry expert Dimitrios Fragiskatos begins his bi-monthly class on one of the most popular (yet underrepresented) genres in literature - graphic novels. Classes will focus on the background & history of comics and workshopping your own creation.

    Friday, January 23rd: Undefined, 9pm
Jeremy Wein, a UCB and NYC Podfest alum, hosts a night of comedy that definitely lives up to it's name. Leave your mind open to sketch, stand up, and musical parodies because anything (well, almost anything) can happen at an Undefined show.

Saturday, January 24th: Parody Writing Class 1pm
If you've been waiting to unleash your inner Colbert, here's your chance. The Parody writing workshop will challenge your brain and have you laughing while you do it. Saturday's are chock full at QED, so check out the calendar for a full list of events and classes!

Sunday, January 25th - Keith and The Girl Comedy Marathon Launch Party, 2pm
Podcasting trailblazers, Keith and The Girl, are celebrating nearly 10 years of podcasting with a 57-hour comedy marathon. They’re kicking the whole thing off with a launch party at Q.E.D.! We’ll be live streaming the marathon and comedians from the marathon will be stopping by to join the party.

Be sure to stick around after for our open mic at 6:30.
